F6 Music Awards - Synopsis & Review

If it had gone according to the loudness of the fans, there could have been only one winner in the final of the F6 Music Awards: The Leipzig band Barbie Q had brought a fanblock into the tearful palace, who waved flags and celebrated his band. In addition to Barbie Q, Saxony's best newcomer, five other groups played a record deal with the most important pop music competition in the East. But the "Barbie Q" roar was not an expression of intolerance to the competitors, but was the passion that ruled the tear palace this night and made the final a real event. The six newcomer bands, winners of the competitions of the federal states, all faced the biggest challenge of their career: Thanks to the wide-spread placard, the Tearful Palace was filled with bursting spectacles with over a thousand visitors, the sound and image of the video wall was sufficient for professional standards, the jury was not only prominent but competent and the audience was extremely fair. It was not so obvious when it came to a stylistic dance from Death Metal to Synthie Pop. The representatives of the southern countries of Saxony and Thuringia came out most favorably. Barbie Q offered nice Britpop to the rocker, Boscoe Rich from Friedrichroda played something auspicious Poprock in the style of Bon Jovi. For the F6 Music Award, it also supports the fact that he also gives representatives of the tougher gait chances. Thus, the demineral band Red Ink was completely surprised, As a heavy metal band, she was able to win the Landesausschid of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern against various dance projects. The five long-haired boys with their berserkish power skirt also convinced themselves in the Tearful Palace. Even more extreme were Zombie Joe from Halle with their morbid, scary-beautiful tomb skirt. Her singer, Cornelius Ochs, was dressed like a man on the stage. The two Berlin representatives brought electronically supported, rhythmically tightly structured urban pop. Doll 3000, a project around the singer and bassist Franziska Schubert, tried it with the mix DJ plus drums plus voice. More than the cool chorus of Schubert, reminiscent of Annette Humpe, her underwear outfit, however, caused excitement. Ultraviolet, on the other hand, made a furious appearance, Which even Death Metal fans let the jacks down in amazement. Their mixture of Drum n Bass, House and TripHop was the result of the friction between the aggressive thundering rhythm group and the catchy pop melodies. Singer Sandra Baschin, who has already noticed the band Sinai and the Leipzig musical "Elixier", has a grandiose, modulation-rich voice and real star qualities. But the birth of a star remains a gamble. Everlasting, the Leipzig pop group, winner of the first edition of the F6 Award 1997, was really active. She produced her first album at the East German traditional label BMG / Amiga, was launched on television and engaged as an opening act for major concerts. But who knows Everlasting today? "It is not important to us to discover a star" The jury spokesman Fritz Rau also declared, when he finally came to the stage in the morning, around quarter-four. It was much more important to give the underdeveloped East German music scene a boost. The F6 Music Award has already reached the end of the final: more than 700 bands have applied. It was not just a platitude to name all six bands as the winner. Nevertheless, of course, the main prizes had to be awarded. Doll 3000 was given as a third party a demo production. Zombie Joe, for which the laudator Dirk Zöllner predicted a great career, could look forward to two professional studio productions and the pressing of 500 demo CDs and the winners Ultra Violet are allowed to record their first CD with BMG / Amiga. Even the radiant Sandra Baschin failed to speak. If you want to see the best East German young band of the year 99 live: On Friday they play in the Knaackclub.
